National Adult Protective Services Association (NAPSA) – formed in 1989 with the goal of providing Adult Protective Services (APS) a forum for sharing information, solving problems, and improving the quality of services for victims of elder and vulnerable adult mistreatment. If you are experiencing abuse or fear a loved one is experiencing abuse, Illinois residents may call (866) 800-1409, and Missouri residents may call (800) 392-0210.

American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) – Offers a broad range of services to members and nonmembers, including helpful articles, information on advocacy for aging adults and caregivers, tips on Medicare and Social Security benefits, and discounts offered for travel and entertainment. Our friends in the LGBTQ+ community can access SAGE Advocacy & Services for LGBTQ+ Elders. SAGE leads by addressing issues related to aging specific to the LGBTQ+ community, working to achieve a high quality of life and advocate for rights and better understanding of aging in all communities. Do yourself a favor and call the Peptoc (as in “pep talk”) hotline at (707) 873-7862 and listen to pre-recorded life advice and encouraging messages from the students at West Side Elementary, a K-6th grade public school in rural Healdsburg, California. The hotline is funded by tax-deductible donations and has gone viral countless times, receiving millions of calls daily from all over the world. Almost guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
